Kim Chi among other probiotic goodies. They even sell kimchi shots!
Probiotic Goodies including coconut kefir
Menu on the top with buddah bowls, fruit bowls, wraps, smoothies…yummy!
Stylish refurbished furniture
Lover’s nook
My husband had the Naked Burrito Bowl with Maui Tempeh!

Prebiotics: Quick Oats

Probiotics are the rage.  But how about probiotics? They are important too because they are food for probiotics (which are healthy gut bacteria).  Here is a simple way to incorporate probiotics into your daily routine:

Socal Vegfest in Orange County

This weekend we made a trip to Orange County, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that Vegfest was occurring on the same weekend!  We had a fabulous time.

The Vegfest was situated at the OC County Fair Grounds in Costa Mesa. Here is the entrance area, where I pose at the map! It was a large event!

The first stop was to get some food!  Here is a sampling of the endless options there!

Sage food truck
Ramen!
This veggie burger tasted like a fish filet…
Vegan Pizza
Dairy Free Ice Cream…Mmmm
Vegan Donuts!
Vegan Mochi : )

After lunch, we headed on inside to hear a lecture by Dr. Joel Fuhrman and see cooking demonstrations by Rod Rotundi and Chef AJ!  Inside, they had a whole bunch of vegan products and samples.  Here are some highlights!

Ora sells vegan probiotics, supplements (omega-3, turmeric) and vitamins.
I love this concept of selling “imperfect fruit and veggies” on the cheap! I wish we had something like this in hawaii….
Did you know most toothpaste is not vegan because of glycerin? This is a new vegan toothpaste called “Davids”
I’d never tasted this new vegan cheese on the market, but it was really good….will they be coming to hawaii anytime soon?

Vegan beauty products!

We stopped by Loveland Farm Sanctuary.  They are trying to raise money for an animal sanctuary….Founded by Paris Connolly, they are a 501c3 non profit organization.  They want to bring rescued farm animals there.  The location will hopefully be somewhere in the canyons here.  So far, Paris told me that she has raised $20,000. Checkout their website at :  lovelandfarmsanctuary.org

Probiotics: Stinky Tofu

Probiotics are the new craze.  On my recent trip to Taiwan, we were able to sample some probiotics.  Probiotics contain beneficial bacteria for your gut.  Stay tuned for my November lecture at the Ala Was Clubhouse for the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii titled “Happy Gut, Happy Life” to find out more information about probiotics!

Here are pictures of restaurant in which we filmed the stinky tofu episode…
