Growing Sponges

At my yoga class, there was a seed bank. It was small and there were not many contributors but someone put in loofah. I did not know this was a vegetable. I only heard of it being a sponge, and I always thought it grew in the ocean. Anyway, I decided to grow it, and I did more research in the process. Now I am making sponges from it! These sponges are great. They are compostable. There is no waste. You can also eat loofah. I haven’t tried this yet, but it needs to be done when loofah is young. Here is my video about loofah:

Raising Monarch Butterflies

I have been seeing people sell monarch chrysalis in boxes at the farmer’s market, and I think this is great and encourages conservation and learning about these butterflies. However, it is even more fun to help raise these yourself. I talk about the steps in this video!

Indoor Composting

I always feel terrible when I dispose of food in the trash. It does decompose better than plastic, but wouldn’t be better to put it back to use in your garden? I mainly do vermicomposting since it is considerably easier than turning compost piles. Therefore, I am unable to compost certain things like lemons or onions or other foods. These days though they have composting machines to help us out! I have seen quite a few on indiegogo or other platforms. I have had the vitamin food cycler now for 1-2 years. It works really well for me. I put all sorts of things in it, and I never have problems with it though it can take several hours. Check out my video:
